John Bossert

John Bossert is a registered U.S. patent attorney with over forty years of combined experience in law and engineering, who helps tech companies build and manage their patent portfolios. He focuses his practice on domestic and international patent procurement, and strategic patent portfolio management. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide array of technology areas including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, distributed systems, cryptography, computer networks, and operating systems.

Mr. Bossert's practice ranges from counseling start-ups as they secure their first patents to managing domestic and international patent portfolios for Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Bossert worked as a software engineer, database developer/architect, consultant, and project/program manager. Working with both Fortune 100 companies and startups, he designed and implemented internal and customer-facing web and database applications, and managed teams of software engineers, technicians, and technical writers. Before joining Foley IP Law, he practiced with a number of large full service law firms.

Outside of work, Mr. Bossert studies Japanese sword and is active in his church and community. He holds an DELF A2 certification in French and is pursuing his B1 certificate.
